The Doctors
Dr N M Alam
MB BS Karachi 1991
Practice Staff
We have two doctors, three practice nurses, a healthcare assistant, a practice manager, a business manager, a medical secretary and five receptionists. We also have attached to the surgery a team of district nurses, midwives and health visitors
and we also have a phlebotomy clinic on Tuesday mornings.
Practice Nurses
They are available for dressings, injections, ear syringing and travel vaccinations. They also carry out new patient medicals, diabetic, coronary heart disease, blood pressure, asthma and family planning/well woman clinics. In addition to this, they are able to advise patients on any aspect of health care ie weight control and smoking cessation etc.
Health care assistant
The HCA sees patients for blood pressure checks, smoking cessation advice, healthy weight management and the monitoring of medical conditions at the remit of a GP or practice nurse. An appointment is needed.
Receptionists
They are trained to handle a wide variety of enquiries received at surgery. They may, on occasion, request additional information so that you get to see the right person to deal with your
problem. They arrange appointments, ambulances, hospital referrals and process prescriptions etc. They pass messages to the doctors regarding home visits and general queries.
Medical students
We are a teaching practice. We hope that you will co-operate with us and help the students learn about General Practice. You will be informed of their presence and if you do not want them to be present at a consultation, your wishes will be respected. This will not affect your treatment in any way.
