Services Offered
New Patient Check
On joining the practice, as part of the registration process, patients will be expected to attend an appointment for a routine health check; an opportunity to discuss any ongoing problems
and treatments with the practice nurse.
Smoking Cessation Clinic
This is accessed via an appointment with the practice nurse.
Vaccinations
Tetanus and polio (courses and boosters) are available to adults and older children.
The influenza vaccine is available on a yearly basis to patients over the age of 65 and those considered 'at risk' such as patients with diabetes, heart disease or COPD (the list is not exhaustive - please ask
at reception).
The pneumonia vaccine is available for those over 75 and those in the 'at risk' groups above.
Travel vaccinations, as recommended by the School of Tropical Medicine, are available. There may be a charge for these and a list is available in reception.
Well Man Clinic
This clinic is run by one of our practice nurses and offers advice on health conditions that can be treated such as high blood pressure. Guidance will be given about your lifestyle to reduce your risk of developing conditions such as diabetes, stroke or coronary heart disease. Blood and urine tests may also be taken. It is likely you will have more than one appointment.
Well Woman Clinic
This clinic is run by one of our nurses who offers advice on cervical smears, contraception, menopausal problems and weight etc.
Cervical smears are performed during surgery by the doctor or nurse of your choice. A chaperone will be offered to all patients undergoing an
intimate examination or breast examination.
Contraceptive services and emergency contraception are also available.
Maternity Care
Our provide prenatal, antenatal and postnatal care. Postnatal checks are carried out six weeks after the birth.
Diabetic Clinic
All diabetics are monitored periodically and given routine blood tests and advice on medication and diet.
Minor Surgery
Joint and soft tissue injections are provided by Dr Alam. It is sometimes possible to carry out joint injections in an ordinary appointment but on occasions you may be asked to make a special appointment.
Heart Disease / Stroke
As part of promoting a healthy lifestyle, we are keen to assess and advise on the risk factors affecting these diseases. Dr Alam and the practice nurses manage these clinics.
Asthma And COPD/Respiratory
A nurse is available to advise on the management and treatment of all chest conditions, offering spirometry and advice.
Child Development
Routine developmental checks are carried out from the age of six weeks. Immunisations, as recommended by the Department of Health for the under fives, are carried out by a doctor during this clinic, by
appointment.
Counselling
Our GPs can refer you for talking treatment that is free on the NHS. This will usually be a short course of counselling or CBT from the General Practioner’s Counselling Service. If counselling or cognitive behaviour therapy are not available at the surgery, we can refer you to a local counsellor or therapist for NHS treatment.
Private GP / Clinic Consultations
We offer private GP/clinic consultations outside of NHS operating times for the following:
• Private medicals
• Insurance reports
• Health checks
• Same day appointments
• Cosmetic and aesthetic procedures
